Current Favorites: September

I don’t even remember September happening…Was it all a dream? I really feel like I took a nap and then it was September 29th. Maybe that’s a sign that I shouldn’t nap so much. Oops! I was extremely tired and exhausted this whole month. If anyone has any tips to feel more awake (besides coffee) give them to me, please! With the days getting darker earlier, this is only getting worse :/

Some highlights from this month include celebrating my 8 ear anniversary with my boyfriend, all my fall shows coming back on, buying new books, finding some great sweaters at T.J.Maxx, taking my dog to a dog beach, listening to Fall Out Boy outside of their Wrigley Field show while sitting in a cute little restaurant, and seeing some friends who I don’t get to see very often.

Now, let’s get into my current favorite things.

Fashion

If you know me, you probably know that I am obsessed with chenille. I think I own a chenille sweater in almost every color by now and I wear them non-stop in the fall and winter. Who wouldn’t want to only wear the softest sweaters all the time?? I was recently shopping at T.J.Maxx with my mom, and we found so many beautiful sweaters and cardigans! I even convinced her to get a couple. The prices were so great too! Most of them were between $16.99 and $25.99. In the past, I have also found great chenille pieces at Target, Asos, Amazon, and Forever 21. I will link some options if you are looking to also be the softest human alive this fall.

Beauty

Ulta had their semi-annual “21 days of Beauty Sale” this month where they have products 50% off each day (the next one is in March so start saving now). I always go a little overboard with these sales, especially now that Platinum Members get free shipping when purchasing any item from the sale. I bought a couple of new products to try out and repurchased some favorites. One product that surprised me was the Tarte Busy Gals Brow Tinted Gel. I almost didn’t buy this because they only had 3 color options and there were some mixed reviews online, but I’m glad I did! I purchased the lightest shade “Taupe” and it is a little dark but I kind of like the darker look! The spoolie is the tiniest brush which makes it easy to apply the product throughout the little hairs. This is seriously the fastest and easiest brow product if you are looking for just a quick fix for your brows. I use this on days where I don’t have time to apply full makeup but I feel like my face needs something to make it look a little put together.

Book

Once again, I have failed on my reading goals. I started and have not finished “My Absolute Darling” by Gabriel Tallent. I am about halfway through and determined to finish though! (If you want a review, let me know!) I need to step up my game because I bought so many new books recently that I am so excited to read. This post has a lot of the books I’m hoping to read in the next couple of months. I also joined a book club that some of my friends started so hopefully I will achieve my reading goals a little better next month!

Music

I’ve been working on my fall playlist recently, which you can find on my Spotify. The playlist is a bunch of casual, acoustic, coffeehouse-style songs that are perfect for taking a stroll on a chilly day or relaxing with your fall scented candles. Do sad acoustic songs give anyone else those fall vibes or just me? Also, I bought these cool new earbud headphones from Amazon! Since the new iPhones do not come with a port to plug headphones in, I have been searching everywhere for an inexpensive Bluetooth pair because who can afford those Apple Air Pods?? These headphones pair easily with my iPhone and have pretty decent sound quality. They have a little wire that you can wrap behind your head and the ends are magnetic which helps them stay in place around you when not in use. So glad I bought these, especially for the price they were! They come in several colors; I got the white pair. Check them out here!

Netflix

In last months post, I mentioned the show Cable Girls and the new season being released on Netflix. Well, I watched the whole season in 2 days; it was pretty intense. Read last months post for more details about this show. I also watched Atypical, which is the cutest show ever! It is about a high school boy who is on the Autism Spectrum. The show goes about his daily life struggles with girls, family, school, and more. It’s a cute light-hearted show that gives great awareness to those with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Atypical is funny, inspiring, and has a bit of drama. I love that they emphasize that even though Sam is a little different, he still faces the same issues every teen does and he solves his issues in his own way. The show is also a great example of how other people can interact with people on the spectrum and build friendships!

Food

I have to admit…I’ve been bad this month. I ate out a lot and barely cooked anything. There was a lot of Chick-fil-a, some Papa Johns, and even McDonald’s. I may or may not be eating Taco Bell as I type this (I am). I also went to some new restaurants in my area that I’ve never tried before. Including, Bonefish Grill (their bread was amazing), Stonewood Ale House (tried the Santa Fe Cheeseburger with guacamole, it was weird), and Granite City Brewery (get the Spatzle Mac & Cheese, you won’t regret it). In the city, I also made a visit to Park & Field in Logan Square, which has the cutest little outdoor area with firepits, smores, and games! The food wasn’t amazing but it was still good and I loved the camp vibes their decor and dishes gave. I definitely plan to go back there again. If you are ever in the Wrigley area for a game, Mordecai is super nice for dinner or cocktails! It’s right across from the field. On a nice night, they open up their wall of windows so you really feel like you’re a part of the game (or in my case, the FOB concert).

Quote

As I stated earlier, this month was filled with lots of naps so this quote was very fitting. I tried so hard to be motivated. I even started using a planner! But every time I would start to work on something, I always ended up napping first. Maybe I should make my bed a little less cozy and inviting…
