25 Thoughts After 25 Years

I turned 25 recently. It’s weird to think about because when I was young, I always thought I would be so old by the time I’m 25. I figured I’d have a career, be married, thinking about children, you know have my life together… you may be reading this at 25 and have all of that which is great! But if you’re like me and still don’t know what you wanna be when you grow up, that’s fine too. That’s the weird thing about being 25. Most of your same-aged peers are in very different stages of life. Some of my friends have a house and kids and some of my friends still live at home with their parents.

One thing I’ve learned is that life doesn’t have to go in that traditional order that people assume it should go in (go to school, get married, buy a house, have kids). You can take any route or turn you want to. And whatever that looks like is fine. I’d like to think that you’ll get to where you’re supposed to get when the time is right for you.

Birthdays are a time for celebrating your achievements and reflecting back on your life. Your mom will whip out some baby pictures and you’ll tell embarrassing stories from your past birthdays. It’s all good and fun until you start thinking, “what have I actually done with my life up until now? What have I learned? How have I grown?”

So, I decided to jot down some things that I have learned in my 25 years of life. Most of these aren’t very serious (see #25) but maybe it can give you a little insight or at least a little giggle.
