Current Favorites: October/November

Mack Jean Current Favorites

I can’t believe it’s almost Thanksgiving and the year is almost over. What?! Time is weird.

I have been slacking on making blog posts the past month and I realized I never got around to my October Favorites, so I figured I’d do one now (ya know, the end of November.. ha). So these are some of my favorite things from the past two months.

The reason I haven’t been posting a lot is because I have been really focusing on my Instagram account that I started in October. If you haven’t already, give me a follow!

I decided to create a new account and made my other account private. There were a few reasons for this: #1 Some of my friends and family have mentioned they don’t want to be all over social media so I am keeping those pictures on my personal account. #2 I wanted to make it prettier 🙂 and #3 I wanted my blog account to be for people who actually want to see that type of content so I don’t annoy all of my friends and family who don’t care about fashion and makeup and blog posts.

Now, let’s get into my current favorite things.

Fashion

If you have read my most recent blog post, you can guess the answer to this one. TEDDY COATS. Or sherpa coats, whatever you want to call them. I bought one from SheIn that is so warm and toasty and I love how comfy it makes me feel. Then I found this amazing sherpa jacket from the men’s section in Target that I am loving. Also from Target, I got a denim and sherpa jacket that is really cute but it’s already too cold to wear that one here. I will definitely be wearing it come springtime though! I have every cute teddy jacket that I could find, linked on my last blog post. Most of them are under $50!

Beauty

No makeup collection is complete without the OG Naked Palette. When they announced that the Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette was being discounted, I just had to buy it. I have the Naked 2 Palette and the Naked Smokey Palette and I could never have a complete collection if I wasn’t able to get the original! I have been loving how easy these eyeshadows are to use. They are super pigmented and the colors all go so nicely with each other, which is great for someone who is scared of dramatic eye colors. It is sold out basically everywhere by now. I did find it on Amazon (not on sale) but the Smokey Palette is on sale for half off if you want to grab that one!

Book

Last month, I read In a “Dark, Dark Wood” by Ruth Ware. I was hoping for a scary thriller to read during Halloween time and this wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the book! It was suspenseful, easy to read, decent character build-up, and made me want to keep reading. It just wasn’t what I was expecting. Definitely a good thriller if you aren’t really into scary movies. I am probably going to purchase her other books and read those soon too. Next up, I am reading “Gunslinger” by Stephen King. A few of my friends started a book club that I joined and this was one of the picks. Let me know if you have read any Stephen King books and what you think!

Music

I have still been loving my bluetooth earbud headphones from Amazon. I’ve used them almost everyday for the past two months and have only had to charge them once! These would make an easy stocking stuffer for someone with a newer iPhone, since the new phones don’t come with headphone jacks anymore. Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of 90’s covers. Sorry if that’s lame, but it’s the truth! My favorite is Truly Madly Deeply by Yoke Lore. Also I love Faith by Sleeping at Last. Sleeping at Last is one of my all time favorite bands. Plus, they have covered some of my favorite songs which just makes me love them even more.

Netflix

I watched a lot of shows the past two months, so stay with me here. First up, is The Good Place. This was a super cute show that was not at all what I thought it was going to be! It has a great twist.. don’t want to spoil it…just watch it! Then, I watched the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I have mixed feelings about this show. I really liked the first 2 episodes but the more I watched the more I disliked it. The ending was disappointing and it kind of dragged on in parts that made me uninterested. I actually haven’t finished The Haunting of Hill House because I’m scared to watch it alone and need a buddy who is willing to watch it (my boyfriend dipped out after the first episode). But it’s great and you need to watch it right now. I just finished The Sinner which was a random selection and it was good! A sort-of murder mystery thriller type show. It was opposite of most thrillers I’ve seen though. The show starts off with a murder then we go back through the main character’s fragments of memories to try and figure out why she did what she did. The ending was more pleasant than expected.

Food

I probably should just leave this blank because my diet has consisted of leftover halloween candy (I had one trick-or-treater) and mac and cheese. Every time I go to Jewel Osco, I leave with boxes of mac and cheese. The shells are my favorite and they are only .69 cents! I’ve also had Panera’s Mac and Cheese a few times. If you have never had it, get in your car, drive to Panera, and eat it right now. It’s so good. You can get packaged versions at most grocery stores but fresh is always best. I guess mac and cheese is just a comfort food of mine when the weather starts to get colder. After Thanksgiving, it’s salads and smoothies for me! (Okay, maybe after Christmas, who am I kidding). On a more positive note, I did eat some really great food while I was in Denver last month. All the good stuff is on this blog post.
