Trying to make the most of the warm Chicago weather?
Summer doesn’t have to end yet! Warm weather in Chicago usually lasts until October, so there is still plenty of time to get in some outdoor fun before the snowpocalypse starts back up this winter!
Eat At However Many Outdoor Patios You Can Find
Why eat inside when you can eat while viewing the beautiful sights of the city? Restaurants all over are opening up outdoor seating areas. You will find many options just by walking down the streets, but some notable places to check out include Big Star, Parlor Pizza, or Parson’s Chicken. I’ve been dying to check out the recently opened, Beatnik on the River.
Ice Cream. Lots of Ice Cream
There’s no better way to enjoy a hot day than with ice cream. Some of my favorites are Gordo’s Homemade Ice Cream Bars, Frost Gelato, Amorino, and of course, Jenis’ Splendid Ice Creams.
Have a Beach Day
You can have the best of both worlds in Chicago: city life and beach life. Chicago is home to about 15 miles of beaches! The tough part is deciding which one to go to! Make sure to check out the swim advisory beforehand.
Experience All The Events
Chicago has no shortage of events, especially during the warmer months. You can find some sort of fest going on any weekend in any neighborhood. Some upcoming fests include Logan Square Food Truck Social, Windy City Wine Festival, and the Donut Fest at the Zoo. If you’re looking for a relaxing and free night out, watch a movie in the park. For a unique experience check out these limited-time-only pop-up exhibits: Happy Place and the WNDR Museum. Tickets sell out fast for pop-ups so hurry and purchase if you want to go!
Drink All Of the Frosé and Cocktails, Preferably On A Rooftop
My favorite summer activity: drinking (Haha just kidding. Sort of). If you want to get that perfect insta-worthy pic then try out one of these spots. At Celeste, you can get your drink served in a rose-gold gnome or an owl. My frosé tasted even more delicious coming out of a gnome. J Parker is a nice rooftop on the 13th floor with some really interesting signature cocktails! 3 Arts Club Cafe is not a rooftop but is the most aesthetically pleasing restaurant ever. It is inside of the restoration hardware store. Just don’t be like me and have one too many drinks and then wander around the store pretending you live there.
Visit a Farmer’s Market
Farmer’s markets are the perfect way to help out the community by buying from local vendors and business. Plus, you get the freshest produce and goods! Here’s a list of Chicago Markets in every city.
Explore the Nature (Yes, Chicago has nature!)
Taking a step back from the hustle of the city (especially during summer tourist season) is a great way to relax and recharge. Visit: Garfield Park Conservatory, South Garden at the Art Institute, Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool, The Garden of The Pheonix at Jackson Park.
Take a Boat Ride
Enjoy the water while you can before it is all frozen over! Hop on a Wendella Boat Tour to learn about Chicago’s architecture and history, or rent a kayak and paddle your way down the river.
Stay Beautiful Chicago!
