Is it just me or was January 87 days long? January is such a crummy month because you have to take down all of your happy Christmas decorations and it somehow gets even colder than it was in December. Chicago has had several snowstorms and a few record-breaking cold days this month. I’ve done a lot of hibernating, to say the least.
Now, let’s get into my current favorite things.

Fashion
This month my fashion has had to make some sacrifices this month due to the cold weather. Comfy clothes all day every day. I’ve been loving Wildfox sweaters lately. I got a few new ones for Christmas (this one & this one). Nordstrom Rack always has great deals on this brand which can be pricey. Worth every penny though; they are honestly the comfiest lounge sweaters ever. They are so soft and lightweight. Not to mention how cute the graphics are. I wear them for lounging and as real outfits out so they get lots of use.
Recently, I was able to work with ASOS on an Instagram campaign and ended up finding way too many pieces that I loved and spending way too much money. Check out some of my pieces here and here.
Also, I am now on the LIKEtoKNOW.it app! This is exciting because now you can shop my outfits and products featured on my Instagram. Download the app from the app store on iPhone or Android, follow me by clicking here or search for “mackjean” and see all of the details behind my look! You can also screenshot my picture on Instagram and you will get sent the details right to your email! So easy!
Beauty
I’ve been using my Becca First Light Primer every day. To be honest, it doesn’t make my makeup last as long as other primers I’ve tried, BUT it does make my makeup look 20 times better. It gives such a nice healthy glow and helps even out my skin tone. Sometimes I wear this alone on no makeup days. One of my goals for this year is to learn how to apply faux eyelashes. Why are they so hard to figure out?! I received this pair by Kiss Lashes from Influenster to try out and they are so beautiful! I love that it comes with a tube of glue, too. After watching several Youtube tutorials, I finally got them on! Not perfect, but they were pretty! With a little more practice, they would probably look really good. I also received a deodorant to try by Sauve. It is a spray on with is super easy and quick-drying. It has a nice clean smell to it. I love throwing this in my bag because it’s so fast and refreshing to use that I sometimes apply more throughout the day. My skin has really felt the effect of Chicago’s brutal weather and has been so dry lately. For my hands, I have been using, Gold Bonds Ultimate Overnight Lotion and it has been a life savior. I went from cracking, bleeding knuckles to smooth baby soft hands. I was given this lotion by Influenster to try and review.
Book
After reviewing my Goodreads account and seeing how I have completely failed my reading goals from 2018, I have been motivated to pick up my reading habits again. First, I started and finished Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone. which was an easy read but very good. It was a high-school drama fiction book but it had a lot of deep messages. A major part of this book was about mental health issues and the other smaller parts touched on friendships, family, and romance. I felt that “book hangover” feeling after reading this. You know, that feeling after a good book where you don’t know where you are or what to do now. I have trouble starting new books after I read a good one. Anyone else? Guess I’ll just have to catch up by reading three books next month! I also have been digging into Marie Kondo’s book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. I started this after binge-watching her Netflix show. If you like the show, you need this book! There are so many more great tips and the reasoning behind why her process works. I put some of her tips to the test. You can see my results in my closet organizing blog post!
Music
Some random songs I’ve been listening to on repeat are:
We Won’t-James Young and Phoebe Ryan, Ivory Black-Oliver Riot, Sorry-Halsey, Stranger-Can’t Swim, Mistake- Gabrielle Aplin, Spirit Cold-Tall Heights, Where’s My Love-SYML
Netflix/Amazon
Obviously, hibernation entails a lot of shows. Lots of good ones this month! First up, is You on Netflix. This show was so creepy! If you like psychological thrillers, this is for you! Penn Badgley from Gossip Girl is in it and a few other familiar faces. It’s a great binge-watching show. Next, I watched Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime. I was actually asked to do a campaign about this show, which I am so thankful for because I probably would not have watched it otherwise! This is an action show that literally had me on edge the whole time. My boyfriend watched this one with me and he enjoyed it too. Right now, I am watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon and I am obsessed! The characters are perfect, it’s funny yet has a plot, and is such a unique story. I definitely recommend you start this one right now!
Food
This month, I have been trying to save money and eat whatever I have around my house. Just in time for Chicago’s polar vortex, Influenster sent me this organic pasta sauce by Classico. I had some thin spaghetti in my pantry and I was able to whip up a quick meal for my boyfriend and I! This sauce was so tasty and will definitely be buying this again to try out more recipes. Pasta is one meal that I can actually cook for my boyfriend and I (He usually cooks; I am a terrible chef). But even he liked my spaghetti with Classico’s Organic Tomato and Basil Sauce. Also, I discovered this non-dairy yogurt from Califia Farms at Whole Foods. I have been using this in my smoothies. For a recipe, see my Instagram post here. I’ve tried Blueberry and Plain flavors so far because Strawberry and Mango have been sold out at my store. The Blueberry one I’ve had alone as a yogurt drink and it tastes exactly like those Mamba Chew candies in liquid form! So weird but SO good!
